Etude en douze exercises. Composed by Franz Liszt. Edited by Christian Ubber. Romantic. Full score. With Standard notation. 68 pages. Wiener Urtext/Vienna Urtext #UT050232. Published by Wiener Urtext/Vienna Urtext (PR.UT050232).
ISBN 978-3-85055-616-3. UPC: 800522001765.
This collection of etudes dated 1826 represents Franz Liszt's most important early work, but it is also much more: it is the precursor version of the Etudes d'execution transcendante (UT 50233), allowing us very informative insights into Liszt's development as a pianist and composer. Each etude is dedicated to a special technical problem and permits advanced students (from an intermediate level onwards) an introduction to Liszt's work. At the same time, it proves its worth as an excellent alternative to the more demanding etudes written by Carl Czerny. The present new edition is the first to draw on the French first edition as well as on excerpts of the autograph as its main source. This procedure allowed the correction of a number of errors in the musical text, the articulation and dynamics. The Notes on Interpretation also include background information about young Liszt as a teacher and the use of etudes in his lessons.
About SMP Level 10 (Advanced)
Very advanced level, very difficult note reading, frequent time signature changes, virtuosic level technical facility needed.
