Here is a marvelous throw-back to the campy yet delightful music of the 60's, courtesy of Herb Alpert and his south-of-the-border hit makers. Although primarily a feature for the trumpet section, the woodwinds have their fair share of feature spots as well. Who doesn't remember songs like: “Spanish Flea,” “Whipped Cream,” “The Lonely Bull” and “Tijuana Taxi?”.

Reliable & Crowd-Pleasing Concert Material
Ted Ricketts' 'Tijuana Brass in Concert' is a very practical choice for school or community band performances. The full set of parts is clearly laid out, making rehearsals and performances straightforward. While individual instrumental parts don't feature lead sheet chord symbols, the Grade 3 arrangement of these classic Herb Alpert hits is harmonically accurate and delivers the recognizable sound audiences love. A solid choice.

Although a concert band piece, Ted Ricketts' arrangement demonstrates thoughtful voice-leading and textural design. For a Grade 3 work, the interplay between the trumpet features and woodwind spots is skillfully balanced, creating a rich, authentic sound without needing a dedicated vocal line. Fun, fun arrangement!
Everyone like this arrangement, the band, the audience and the conductor. I hope there will be another Herp Alpert and TJB arrangement coming out soon. I'd certainly buy it. Sunny, fun music.
