A proclamation is a major statement in front of an audience or the authoritative word on a subject. It’s usually used by an official or government to proclaim some event. This piece was written to give a musical example of a proclamation. The opening melody is the proclaiming statement. The official statement is then repeated with some ornamentation in the winds. The middle section is a chorale-like section that restates the main theme. Finally, a percussion fanfare leads us to the return of the main statement. This piece is a great teaching piece and a great work for festivals and contests.
