Arzachel is an intensely exciting piece written for the WELS Honors Middle School Band Festival. Arzachel is a "lunar impact crater" located in the highlands in the south-central part of the moon. The peak of Arzachel is prominent enough to be seen by amateur telescopes.The fast, dark minor melody portrays the excitement of adventure and wonder at exploring the moon, and the trills and loud timpani strikes depict the "crash" of the meteors striking the moon to form the crater.
