A useful beginning reference
I've returned to strings after an extended hiatus and am having good results with this basic reference, just a few days after its arrival. Although the text includes audio references, I'm finding it more helpful to work with the contrabass adjacent to my piano. It's much easier to instantly correct errors in intonation this way. The book has some minor typographical errors, but since I read music notation fluently, it isn't a problem. Also, the fingerings and interval structures discussed are limited, and there's no overview of the instrument's extended range. Will continue to explore the instrument, independent of this book.
