George Vance has produced a new approach to the teaching of the double bass which has resulted in an excellent method for both the young and adult beginner and the advanced player. His design of introducing primarily the intervals of octaves, fifths and fourths is a logical step to ready the student for the smaller intervals which are not as easy to hear accurately.     Gold Standard for teaching double bass

    This book is the gold standard for teaching a beginner to learn how to play bass. With this volume the student builds upon both earlier books. Using positions 1-3, and thumb positions 4-6 in music that spans the classical repertoire. Multi-movement works of baroque, classical, and romantic are all available to challenge the intermediate player. A whole palette of sounds, articulations, and ideas are mastered in this volume. It ends with a movement from the standard repertoire for bass- Eduoard Nanny (attributed to Dragonetti) Concerto . Thoughtful, thorough, and pushes the student to their maximum potential.
