Schumann composed his Album for the Young in 1848 in less than a month. He wrote at the time: I dont remember ever having been in such good musical form... The pieces simply poured out one after another. When the work was first published it was divided into two parts: fur Kleinere (for younger people) and fur Erwachsenere (for older people). This edition contains the first part (easy to moderately difficult) only. The complete Album for the Young containing both Parts I and II is also published by the Associated Board.
