Solid Pedagogical Piece, Not for Gigs
As a gigging musician who also teaches, I appreciate this 'First Time Sonatina.' It's clearly designed for early elementary piano students, offering a structured classical experience. While not something I'd typically use on a professional gig due to its pedagogical nature and lack of lead sheet chord symbols, it's a valuable piece for my beginner students, helping them develop recital repertoire. Good quality for its intended purpose.

Achievable and Rewarding Classical Fun!
I'm an adult learner, and finding classical pieces that are genuinely 'easy piano' but still sound impressive is a joy. Fred Kern's 'First Time Sonatina' fits the bill perfectly! The three movements are charming and make me feel like I'm playing a real classical piece without being overwhelmed. It's so rewarding to complete something like this. A truly enjoyable and achievable piece for my weekend practice.

Great Foundation for Piano Accompanying
While this isn't designed for vocalists, this 'First Time Sonatina' is excellent for teaching young pianists the concept of collaboration, even with a teacher. The 'stylized teacher accompaniment' provides a supportive, enriching texture for the student's solo part, demonstrating how an accompaniment enhances the main melody. It's a great stepping stone for understanding musical support and developing ensemble skills in piano students.
