Love Martha Mier's Books
I'm an adult student at the intermediate level. I have several of Martha Mier's Jazz, Rags & Blues books, as well as her Christmas & now the Classical books(Levels 2, 3 & 4)! I struggled with intricate classical pieces in other books. But these are fun, and I love playing the syncopated rhythms. For me, these books are easy to play but hard enough to keep me improving my skills. I recommend any of Martha's Jazz, Rags & Blues books. So much fun to play.

Classical Jazz Rags & Blues-book 4
Bought these for my students to get away from the standard classical style of playing. The 7 songs in this book have different style rhythms which changes classical to blues,Jazz, and Ragtime.This book 4 has some very good syncopated rhythms, plus I have the students also add some improv. or change the note durations along with what is written to make the songs sound more lively. Songs in this series are pretty good as written.The Book 4 is easy to read and well organized. Songs are 2 to 3 pages in length. The songs are a series to get into modified Classical pieces played to pop/blues/Rag styles and to learn basic syncopated rhythms. Book 4 is for the Late intermediate student throughout the book. All 4 Levels of this series are pretty good learning books. Variety of Blues, Jazz,and Ragtime - to Classical type songs from easy to the intermediate/advanced playing student. All the songs have very interesting styles to them. hope this helps.pianomanDT
