Originally composed in 1865 for piano duet (one piano, four hands), Brahms's 16 Waltzes, Op. 39, are charming short pieces in the Viennese ländler and waltz styles. Editor Henry Levine has included helpful fingering suggestions, pedaling indications in the secondo part, and phrasing that enhances the melodic line. For reading and playing convenience, these beautifully re-engraved waltzes are now available in an attractive upright edition, complete with a thematic index. A Federation Festivals 2020-2024 selection.

Beautiful duets
I love the layout of each waltz on one page. No page turning while playing! I'm hoping to have a late intermediate, very musically sensitive student learn a few of these waltzes this summer. I have selected 2-3 in a row where she will play either the primo or the secondo part (whichever is easier). I have not played or taught all of these waltzes before; therefore, as I have been analyzing them, I am realizing that the keys of the waltzes flow beautifully from one to the other. It makes it easy to group 2-3 of them together for performance.
