    Ok

This is really the only edition available for these transcriptions, and so essential if you want to play them. As with all Dover the cover is beautiful and the notes are pretty accurate, but within is average binding and cheap paper/print quality. Also, confusingly, the cover/spine doesn't match the other volume???

Beethoven Symphonies Nos. 6-9 (solo piano)

I am a terrific fan Beethoven. I am enamoured of Franz Liszt's transcription of the Beethoven Symphonies 1 - 9. I while back I heard Glen Gould No. 6 Pastorale and fell in love with it. I just had to have a recording of Mr. Gould playing this piece which I did indeed purchase. I am as of this time unable to play this wondrous music but wanted very much to see its' composition. Dover Publications has done a wonderful presentation of these magnificent pieces and I am greatly appreciative of Sheet Music Plus for having this quality music within their inventory! Those who now capable of taking on this series of masterpieces with find the presentation nicely laid out. many thanks, Bob M.

    A superb Transcription

The transcriptions by Franz Liszt are extremely complete in terms of voices from the orchestral score. For the pianist, this means lots and lots of notes to play ! And many voices to conduct at the same time. Often Liszt uses one extra staff (or two or three ...) to indicate with the maximum of clarity the various voices to play.Hours and hours of hard work in perspective but the result is worth the pain.
