Brilliant
Just like all the other titles in Alfred's Basic Piano Course this book is brilliant! I am a beginner who did not start learning piano until my 72nd birthday. Hence, I need books with melodies I know that allow me to enjoy lots of practice and this book does just that. I applaud the very clever people who arranged the melodies to suit my very limited ability right now. Thank-you.

Alfred's Basic Piano Course-Top Hits Solo book -2
This book was suggested by my daughter's piano teacher. It has delightful songs in it - many of our favorites show tunes. The songs are challenging but not too difficult - just the right level.

Deceptively difficult
The Top Hits books represent a decent cross-section of music (though some of the pieces seem a bit dated to me--the Sesame Street song in particular). However, the level really is not at all congruent with the Alfred Lesson Books. Most of the Level 2 Top Hits are not very playable until the student has virtually finished the lesson book. Rhythms especially present a significant challenge. In theory, the student knows how the song sounds already...but as with most contemporary music, the rhythms are so sophisticated that they've been simplified for learning purposes. However, they are still much more advanced than what the student has encountered elsewhere. I recommend these books to be used in conjunction with the next highest Lesson level. They are a good value, including a large number of pieces which are recital quality.
