The volume goes back to the eponymous symposium organized by the Paul Sacher Foundation in Basle in April 2011. In eleven lectures and three conversations the subjects Interpretation and Authorship in Music were looked at from various angles while focussing particularly on developments after the Second World War. Apart from the different text and authorship dimensions between composition and interpretation, the articles also bring up media-related and performative extensions of music including entirely new kinds of authorship concepts and problems.
