This composition is written in honor of my mother, Sarah, who passed away on July 1st of 2019 after a long battle with both idiopatic pulmonary fibrosis and congestive heart failure. The mood of the composition is predictably grim, somewhat in the Romantic tradition of Chopin and Liszt, although the musical idioms are more contemporary. The reason I am publishing it, is to supply an artistic composition that may serve as repertoire for solemn occassions, and also as a tribute to my mother, who was instrumental in my becoming a musician. The middle section is more passionate, like a reminiscence of years gone by. I believe there is a niche for a composition like this, unfortunately.
