The Water of Tyne (or The Waters of Tyne) is a traditional Northumbrian folk song collected by John Bell in 1810 and published in his Rhymes of Northern Bards in 1812. While its exact date of composition is unknown, it appeared in print in the early 19th century and has roots in older regional oral traditions.

This is a piano solo arrangement that was the Audience Favourite in the 2025 Tunescribers Arranging Competition. The brief of the competition was to arrange the tune for piano in which the pianist's hands never strike the keyboard at the same time. To get the legato, flowing feel and the illusion that hands are playing simultaneously, it is essential that the sustain pedal is used as suggested.
