Fun and Accessible Jazz Standards
As an adult learner, I'm really enjoying this Real Book. The 'beginning to intermediate' level makes playing these jazz standards, like 'Take Five' and 'Body and Soul,' feel achievable and rewarding. The clear melody and chord names help me understand the tunes. It's so relaxing to just sit down and play through these classics. The physical book can be a bit heavy, but it's full of great content.

Versatile Accompaniment for Vocalists
For my vocal coaching sessions, this C Edition Real Book is invaluable. The presentation of melody and chord symbols allows me to easily adapt accompaniment, whether I'm lightly doubling the vocal line or building a supportive harmonic texture. The vast collection of jazz standards ensures I always have appropriate material. The clear engraving and fixed errors are much appreciated for smooth coaching.

The Real Book
I ordered 3 Real Books in different keys. One in "C", one in "B" flat and one in "E" flat. I play the Alto Sax, my brother plays guitar and my mother plays the piano. We enjoying playing together and these books make it easy, so we don't have to transpose!! :)

Required Reading
You can not be interested in playing jazz if you don't own The Real Book. Thousands of well-known jazz musisicians grew-up playing tunes from this book and finding their way through changes, and learning the essentials of jazz melody and harmony.

The real book 6th edition
This is a great book and easily read.I do not require the lyrics as I use it with the play along series,as jazz numbers.Highly recommended if you want the straight music script. with no frills and lyricsHighly recommended

Know your fake books
There are 15 or 20 fakebooks (with melodies and chords) and I think that I have all of them and have been using them for years. These Hal Leonard new real books are the best if you like a good selection of stardards and a good collection of jazz tunes. The chords are much better than most other fake books and if you get all three volumes you get most of the tunes you would want. I have read most of the critical reviews and they are all by inexperenced muscians who don't know fake books. These are the best you can get for good chord progressions and lots of standards and jazz tunes.

lots of good standards
Lots of great timeless song lead sheets in here. The large font size helps reading under less than perfect lighting conditions. There are double bar breaks between sections and some tunes even have partial bass lines. On the down side, I think I will eventually have to 3 hole ring binder this because the plastic spiral is thin for the weight of the material.

stay with the real real books
the real real books may be harder to find, but it's very worth it. this new real book is missing a ton of songs (such as all blues which is on the 13th page of the old real book). Anything this book has is watered down . this book is missing about 100 songs that are in the old real real book. Save your money to by a good old real real book
