Alphons Czibulka (also written as Alfons or Alfonz; 14 May 1842 – 27 October 1894) was an Austro-Hungarian military bandmaster, composer, pianist and conductor.
The "Stephanie Gavotte" refers to a popular piano piece composed by Czibulka, published around the 1880s, known for its lively, uplifting tune, part of the 19th-century light classical/salon music tradition that adapted the historical French gavotte dance.
The original gavotte dance was a French folk dance from Dauphiné, later stylized by composers like Lully and Bach in Baroque suites, evolving from peasant circles to courtly performances before Czibulka's charming piano rendition became a hit.
