“Albany” is a hit song by Roger Whittaker, which he released in both English and German. In the style of a Scottish ballad, it tells the fictional story of Gordon and Charles MacKenzie. Of course, the typical bagpipe sounds and horn fanfares can also be found in this arrangement.
While the choruses are orchestrated as large tutti passages, the various verses are narrated by different groups of instruments. In the last chorus of this arrangement, there is an opportunity for a short solo, e.g., for trombone, trumpet, or saxophone.
