Silent Night – Song of Light is a very contemporary, ethereal arrangement of the classic Christmas carol, Silent Night, written especially for an Advanced Intermediate SATB Choral Ensemble. Here are a few of its features:
* It was written using a more linear approach, like a Baroque or Renaissance polyphonic piece. * There are a number of places that use staggered entrances. * Different parts have the melody at times. * There is a lot of close harmony without being "jangling". * There’s an interesting false cadence in the piano part that makes it sound as if the piece were changing key; but it’s not. * The parts are well withing normal range, but the sopranos and basses may have to stretch just a bit.
This piece is great for concert, contest and worship.
