Friesland (Fryslân in de Friese taal) heeft niet alleen een eigen taal maar ook een rijke eigen cultuur waarin de soms eeuwen oude volksliederen altijd een belangrijke rol hebben gespeeld. Deze rhapsodie is samengesteld uit een aantal van deze lederen en sluit stilistisch aan bij de bekende Rhapsody from the Low Countries van dezelfde componist.Na een enigszins plechtige inleiding klinkt een vrolijk dansliedje (De Boalserter merke) met als tweede thema een meer melancholiek gedeelte (It Aldershûs). Vervolgens klinkt een kort koraal waarvan de melodie uit de zestiende eeuw stamt. Het hierna volgende thema dat het karakter heeft van een barcarolle wordt aan Mozart toegeschreven (Wâldsang). De finale is een soort tarantella waarvoor de nodige virtuositeit van het orkest wordt gevraagd (Yn 'e Snitser merke).

(Rhapsody from Friesland)Friesland (Fryslân in the Frisian language) does not only have its own language but it also boasts a very rich own culture with many folk songs sometimes dating from many centuries. This rhapsody is based on a number of those songs and from a stylistic viewpoint it is related to the famous Rhapsody from the Low Countries by the same composer.A solemn introduction is followed by a merry dancing song (De Boalserter merke) and a second, rather melancholic, theme (It Aldershûs). Then we hear a short choral with a melody from the sixteenth century. The next theme has the character of a barcarole and is usually attributed to Mozart (Wâldsang). The finale is a kind of tarantella and asks for quite some virtuosity from the band (Yn 'e Snitser merke).

(Rapsodie de Frise)La Frise (Fryslân en frison) n'a pas seulement sa propre langue, mais également une très riche culture dans laquelle les chants populaires, souvent âgés de plusieurs siècles, ont toujours joué un rôle important. Cette rapsodie est composée d'un nombre de ces chants et du point de vue stylistique elle est apparentée à la célèbre Rhapsody from the Low Countries (Rapsodie des Pays-Bas) du même compositeur.Une introduction plutôt solennelle est suivie d'une chanson de danse à caractère joyeux (De Boalserter merke) et puis d'un second thème plutôt mélancolique (It Aldershûs). Puis nous entendons un choral bref dont la mélodie date du seizième siècle. Puis il y a un thème qui possède les caractéristiques d'une barcarolle et que l'on attribue à Mozart (Wâldsang). Le final est une espèce de tarentelle qui exige une certaine virtuosité de l'orchestre (Yn 'e Snitser merke).

(Rhapsodie aus Friesland)Friesland (Fryslân in der friesischen Sprache) hat nicht nur eine eigene Sprache, sondern auch eine reiche eigene Kultur in der jahrhundertealte Volkslieder immer eine wichtige Rolle gespielt haben. Diese Rhapsodie setzt sich aus einigen dieser Lieder zusammen und schließt stilistisch an die bekannte 'Rhapsody from the Low Countries' desselben Komponisten an.Nach einer feierlichen Introduktion hört man zuerst ein fröhliches Tanzlied (De Boalserter merke) und dann ein zweites, mehr melancholisches Thema (It Aldershûs). Danach hört man einen kurzen Choral mit einer Melodie aus dem 16. Jahrhundert. Das nächste Thema (Wâldsang) hat den Charakter einer Barkarole und schreibt man Mozart zu. Das Finale ist eine Art Tarantella, die eine gewisse Virtuosität des Blasorchesters verlangt (Yn 'e Snitser merke).
