The Theory Books of the DAVID CARR GLOVER PIANO LIBRARY are written in programmed instruction style, one of the most effective means of learning in modern education. Programmed instruction is based on three generally accepted principles: 1. The material is presented in small steps called frames. 2. The student makes an immediate written response to each frame so that his learning is constantly checked. 3. The student knows if his answer is correct. The Theory Books are written for the Preparatory Age piano student. However, the fundamentals of music are presented in a logical order making the books useful for any beginner. The Theory books are correlated to the DAVID CARR GLOVER PIANO LIBRARY, but can be used with any course on music of this level of advancement.

Just what I was looking for!
This is an early-learners, piano theory book. It's a solid theory workbook that I recall learning from in my childhood, and now use it as part of being a Piano teacher. I copy pages out of it for children to work on. If you are looking for good pages on how to read music and learn the basics from the bottom up, this is a trusted series to work with!

Teacher gives Thumbs Up!
I teach private piano and voice. My piano students have been working out of the Alfred Series, Faber and Faber collections, John Thompson and Adventures in Piano. Although I think all of these have merit, I needed a book to reinforce basic music knowledge - notes, rhythms and symbols. This book fits the bill perfectly! My students have begun to identify notes much faster and absorb basic theory. Because you can move quickly though these when motivated, I suggest buying book 1 and 2 at the same time. Great!
