This is one of my studio’s “swinging 8ths” favorites!
I love this piece! I’ve taught it many times, often to kids who seem steady enough in their straight 8ths to explore making 8ths swing! PBJ Blues falls underneath the hands well too, and the words are simply fun to sing: “Only grape jelly will do! And, I don’t mean apple! Who ate all the jelly? Man, I got the PBJ Blues” is just one of the great lyric lines. The words really help to teach the rhythms. Check this one out if you don’t know it already!
