This arrangement is set in the same key as the well-known R Vaughan Williams arrangement/harmonisation. In order to present the piece as an instrumental duet between flute and harp (alternatively Piano) the accompaniment has been reduced a little in order that the main melodic line is shines through and the harp can project full, resonant tones. The flute begins on a low C and continues the second verse at an octave with an opportunity to present the more cantabile-style playing and phrasing.
