Excellent for young pianists!
John Thompson has been a leader in piano books for decades. This product has been updated with colorful characters to interest young students. It helps them learn all about the piano and notes at a slow pace so they can grasp these difficult concepts. It also includes duet parts for the teacher/parent to make their simple melodies sound complete.

Best beginner book I've used
This book is easy enough to use with a 5 yr. old beginner who has just started Kindergarten. Also works well with students who don't pick up the concepts as quickly. This is my new go-to primer.

Better than the old John Thompson
I have used Teaching Little Fingers to Play for many years. I am seeing much better success, much quicker, with this series than the old one. Recommend you try it. I'm glad I did.

Easiest Piano Course part 1
I love this book because it teaches the basics (lines, spaces, whole, half, quarter notes, along with name of note etc. I haven't given piano lessons for at least 10 years, but am starting my granddaughter, and this book was not available during the early years of teaching children. All that was offered for the bginner was Teaching Little Fingers to Play. I also like the cartoon characters. I think she will learn very easily everything she needs to know with this book.Ethel Kolbe

Piano Music
This book explains to children about music for the piano. It tells you about the staff, the treble clef, the bass clef, and the types of notes, starting with middle C. It also explains about the C major scale.

John Thompson finally comes into the 21st century
This book completely by-passes the usual start on only the black keys with no lines or spaces approach. I am using it with great success for a kindergarten beginner. It goes straight to reading notes on both clefs, and has seven different cute and brightly colored creatures associated with each note of the scale, so this helps the student read successfully so much faster than other methods. John Thompson has always been great, but decades-old illustrations just didn't cut it and now that's fixed!
