Mixed Feelings
Having only learned and then taught classical music for decades, this was one of the first jazz books that I bought to use with one of my first jazz students about six years ago. The harmonies are so sophisticated that things can seem off far too often to those of us who are not used to these sounds. Fast forward to six years later though, and more playing and teaching of jazz on my part. And now, to my own ears, these harmonies are now quite delightful in all of their strangeness. But young students who are not used to jazz might not take well to them, to be honest. The book is affordable though, so nothing is lost, if so.
