Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1829028).Hello, Dolly! is a 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman and a book by Michael Stewart, based on Thornton Wilder's 1938 farce The Merchant of Yonkers, which Wilder revised and retitled The Matchmaker in 1954. The show moved to Broadway in 1964, winning 10 Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actress in a Musical.
This piano arrangement is based upon Liberace's performance for the Queen of England at the London Palladium in 1960. This was one of the Queen's favorite songs that she loved to sing, along with the entire audience. I wrote this transcription/adaptation for piano solo and performed it. Liberace was so popular in those days that fans would line up around the block outside the theaters. At the height of his fame from the 1950s to 1970s, he was the highest-paid entertainer in the world! Now you can learn to play this song in the same style as Liberace.
