This late intermediate solo piano meditation (3 min) belongs to a set of twelve meditations and is reminiscent of Ravel or Poulenc but with a more contemporary harmonic sensibility. Sweet, tender, and triumphant--this piece has heart through and through. This may be my personal favorite of the entire set.
The performer should use pedal throughout and take careful notice of the tenuto markings which, in this arrangement, represent tones which should be brought out. The tempo is flexible and rubato should be employed to maximum effect. Although not too technically difficult, some pianists may need to practice the jumps in the left-hand accompaniment during the coda section. .
