GOLDFINGER was the 3rd film in the James Bond series starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent The film's plot has Bond investigating the gold magnate Auric Goldfinger, who plans to contaminate the United States Bullion Depository at Fort Knox.

Goldfinger was heralded as the film in the franchise where James Bond "comes into focus". Many elements introduced in it appeared in many of the later Bond films, such as the extensive use of technology & gadgets by Bond, an extensive and innovative pre-credits sequence that stood largely alone from the main plot, multiple foreign locations and tongue-in-cheek humour. It also made famous the elegant British Aston Martin DB5 car, an enduring branding partnership, right up to the Daniel Craig era with the more modern model appearing in Casino Royale and the DB5 itself making guest appearances in at least two of the more recent films, Skyfall and No Time to Die.

On matters musical, that striking opening sequence by Maurice Binder was punctuated and underscored to this magnificent song, sung by the distinctive and electric Welsh superstar vocals of the great Shirley Bassey. No-one could have brought the power and panache of her performance any better than she did.
