Spotty
I have been a major proponent of Martin's work over the years. Some of the finest music for church is found in his catalog. However, as years go by, it seems he values volume over quality. This collection is an example. There are a couple of arrangements that one would love to pluck out, but you can't!! I am not about to spend $8.95 times 90 for my choir, when there are only a couple of pieces I'd want to do. I am frustrated with Martin's artistic laziness lately, cranking out warmed-over arrangements one after the other. In the Fall release of Shawnee Press, there are no less than 22 anthems from him (a couple under the name Michael Barrett - which is Martin), and another cantata. Good grief!
