The Broken Sword is one of the five ceremonial swords kept in the Tower of London and is used during the coronation of a new king or queen. Legend has it that an angel broke off the tip of the sword in an effort to prevent an unjust killing. Composer Kevin Houben lets his music retell this intriguing legend. Broken Sword resembles a film score in many ways and will paint vivid images as the band plays its way through the legend. Many different moods create a contrast-rich work that makes for an exciting listening and playing experience every time!
Eén van de vijf ceremoniële zwaarden die men in de Tower of London bewaart, is het ‘gebroken zwaard’. Iedere keer als er een Engelse koning of koningin wordt gekroond, wordt het tevoorschijn gehaald. Deze gelijknamige compositie gaat over de legende die bij het zwaard hoort. Zo zou een engel de punt van het zwaard hebben afgebroken om een moord te verhinderen. Kevin Houben nam deze legende om een compositie in filmmuziekachtige stijl te componeren. Sfeervol, overtuigend en vol uitdaging voor uw muzikanten!

Die Musik erzählt von der Legende, der zufolge einEngel einst die Spitze des Schwertes abbrach, um einen ungerechten Mord zu verhindern. Aus dieser Legende wob Kevin Houben ein filmmusikalisches Werk, das überzeugt, und den Musikern aufgrund seiner variierenden Stimmungen einige lohnenswerteHerausforderungen bietet.
Broken Sword (L’épée sans pointe) est une oeuvre pleine de défis musicaux. L’intensité filmique est créée par une grande diversité des atmosphères. La composition s’ouvre lentement dans une harmonie sereine et émouvante. Les passages qui suivent font écho la puissance de cette épée unique. La partie intermédiaire, plus lente, illustre les actes de clémence dont elle a su faire preuve.
La spada senza punta (Broken Sword) è una delle cinque spade da cerimonia conservate nella Torre di Londra e utilizzate nel corso delle cerimonie d’ incoronazione dei monarchi inglesi. Essa è il simbolo della clemenza, una virtù reale, e porta a giusto titolo il nome di “spada della clemenza” (Sword of Mercy). Broken Sword è un brano colmo di sfide musicali. La grande diversit di atmosfere crea un’intensit da film e fa di questa composizione una sfida da non perdere.
