Excellent Concert Band Piece for Developing Ensembles
This Grade 2 arrangement of Ravel's Bolero by Johnnie Vinson is a fantastic teaching tool. The clear scoring and thoughtful adaptation make it ideal for young bands, allowing students to tackle a famous classical work. The embedded solo passages offer great opportunities for featured players, and the prominent rhythmic ostinato is excellent for developing ensemble precision and reading skills. Highly recommend for school programs.

So Fun to Play This Movie Classic!
I absolutely love playing this version of Bolero with my community band! Ravel's iconic melody, heard in so many movies, is finally within reach thanks to Johnnie Vinson's Grade 2 arrangement. It's challenging enough to feel rewarding but totally achievable for weekend practices. Getting to play those famous rhythms and melodies is incredibly enjoyable and makes me feel like we're sounding just like the big orchestras!
