Great for Study, Less for Gigs
As a working musician, this "Birth Of The Cool" full score is fantastic for in-depth study of the original Miles Davis arrangements. However, with 168 pages and full notation rather than a lead sheet with chord symbols, it's not practical for quick gig reference. Plan on deep dives with this, not impromptu requests. Page turns could also be an issue.

Birth Of The Cool
Fantastic to read the sheet music of this ground-breaking Miles Davis/Mulligan session. The score includes the parts of each instrument, therefore the album is not meant for solo pianists. But anyone who wants to really enjoy the Birth Of The Cool pieces, or wants to get better acquainted with them, can do no better than buy this album.

Buy this!
This was better than I had expected it could ever be. Beautifully typeset, it has all the parts on individual staves, and the original solos from the recording in cue-note sized notes. As if that wasn't enough, Joost at the Roost is also included, which was not issued on disc.
