A Dozen a Day Book 1 by Edna-Mae Burnam Piano Method - Sheet Music

By Edna-Mae Burnam

The Dozen a Day books are universally recognized as one of the most remarkable technique series on the market for all ages! Packed with delightful exercises designed to improve technique and build confidence, this series turns practice into play. While the series is named Dozen a Day, the exercises are meant to be broken down and learned in groups of two or three before moving on. Once the first dozen – or Group I – has been mastered and perfected, Group II may be introduced in the same manner, and so on for the other Groups. The exercises can even be transposed to different keys to add a challenge when needed. Book 1 offers more challenging exercises to conquer after mastering all exercises from the Preparatory book. Whether you're just starting out or looking to brush up on your basics, each simple exercise prepares your fingers for more challenging pieces down the raod. An essential series for beginning pianists of all ages!

Watch out! The inside pictures are actually from Book 2! But, these books are great.

    Great start!

I grew up using the Dozen A Day series. I continue to use with my students as this is a good introduction to piano technique.

    Great

I remember using these when I first took lessons many years ago. They help the students get their fingers working the right way.

A Dozen a Day, book one

This book is very useful both for children and for late beginners like myself. Much of it is fun too. The pieces are very suitable to be transposed. That is why I have rated the book as early intermediate.

    A Dozen a Day

This is a very sequential series that emphasizes chords, scales and articulation. I usually give my students three or four a lesson and then we review all twelve and move on. It has made my students better prepared when we work on new pieces.

    Dozen A Day book One

I love the Dozen a Day series, because it teaches not only finger excercises, it does teach music technics as well. My students enjoy these excercises very much.

Book One A Dozen A Day

My 11-year-old beginning student likes the easy way things are explained, and the progress she is challenged to make...I will be ordering another one soon, for another beginner. Good books!

I am a student and my teacher got me this book and I think it is awesome. I am 11, but I played when I was 7. So I knew a bit.
