Nominated for a whopping 10 Tony Awards and grossing more than $1 million each week, Wicked is this year's Broadway smash! A prequel to the all-American classic The Wizard of Oz, this new musical is a character study of Elphaba and Glinda, school roommates who grow up to become the Wicked Witch and the Good Witch, respectively. This songbook features a special section of color photos from the production, a note from composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, and includes the fantastic tunes As Long as You're Mine, Defying Gravity, No One Mourns the Wicked and more. In this vocal solo version, the accompaniment does not double the melody.

Nice, but…
Wish it had accompaniment tracks! Arrangements are just a bit different than the show.

A Performer's Song Book
I needed sheet music to perform the Popular song, but I wanted the piano to accompany me, not play my part. I had to search to find this particular song book. All the other websites had the Piano Books (with words to sing along to), but Sheet Music Plus had both the Piano Book and Vocal Selections Book. The music came quickly and in great condition. If you want to perform the songs from Wicked, this is the song book for you.

A little too different.
I was really excited when the book arrived, and deeply disappointed when I realized just how different the arrangements in the book were from the versions I'm used to listening to on the soundtrack. Some of the songs are more-or-less unchanged, but several are lacking some of my favorite parts. There's Couldn't Be Happier, which I had assumed included Thank Goodness, but doesn't. Defying Gravity is arranged as a solo, which means there's none of the I hope you're happy sequence which, to me, is one of the most powerful, emotionally revealing parts in the show for those two characters. Obviously, it is still the music from a goregeous show. I was just hoping for a little greater fidelity to the original.
