'Wedding Announcement' (Ariel Left Behind) is an underscore cue from Disney's animated classic, The Little Mermaid (1989). In this scene, Scuttle awakens Ariel with exciting news that Prince Eric has announced he's getting married. Bursting with excitement, Ariel runs through Prince Eric's castle, only to discover that Eric's wedding plans are not with her, but rather with a mystery maiden.
'Wedding Announcement' opens with musical leitmotifs depicting the character Scuttle, and also references Poor Unfortunate Souls. This cue ends with a slow and expressive reprise of the Tour of the Kingdom theme, played in the recording by the strings section with a harp ("Ariel Left Behind").
The Little Mermaid (1989) score garnered Alan Menken his first 2 Academy Awards (best original score and best original song), with many more Oscar winnings to follow.
