A transliteration of Goethe's widely loved poem into music notation by means of Chromatic-One, a dialectal technique which enables any text written in the Roman alphabet to be "spoken" by musical instruments of definite pitch.
The electronic preview you are listening to is a simple recitation of Goethe's "Wanderer's Night Song" in Chromatic-One (C-1), a synthetic tonal language invented by Dillon Ford to amplify the meaning of poetic texts by enabling instrumental performers to "speak" any language that can be written with the Roman alphabet. Although poems recited in C-1 can be precisely understood by those trained in this technique of translating words into their tonal equivalents, the main purpose of C-1 is not to convey literal meaning but to make it possible to recite poetry without being confined to the conventions and technical limitations of ordinary speech or song. Words and phrases recited in C-1 can be variously shaped by individual performers to convey the overall mood, atmosphere, or meaning of a poem through a variety of "tropes."
