This short set of variations is based on the famous English Morris Dance Tune, Country Gardens. One could say I was inspired by Percy Grainger's own take on this melody. This composition was conceived for advanced intermediate woodwind players and also for professionals. The duration is 3 minutes. The mood is light and whimsical, and though the music is firmly grounded in traditional tonality, the influence of contemporary music to be heard as well.
