“Utopia” is a modern solo concert piano piece that will whisk your listeners off into an immersive 'movie' soundscape. This three-part piece starts with a fast rhythmical section and strong melodies; a contemplative soul-searching middle section that explores unusual harmonies; and ends with an impressive grand finale, that revives the optimism of the first section. It is fun to play, tonal and full of rich harmonies and chords, that will stay with you long after you finished playing.
Supplied in two separate versions: Advanced (Grade 8) Pages 1-4: This original version is ideal for concerts and competititions, due to the very expressive and syncopated nature of the piece. Length: 3’30 (four pages). Suitable for small hands.
Pages 5-7: The simplified shorter version, is ideally suited for approx. Grade 5 level. Uses simpler rhythms, simpler keys (C, G and F major), a smaller range, and a much-reduced accompaniment. There is also a duplicate of the simpler version, supplied on pages 8-10, for those who prefer to see note names within the note heads themselves. Length: 3 minutes (3 pages).
