A Great Resource for Saxophone Players
I teach saxophone in New Orleans and highly recommend this book to all my students. Paul Deville's Universal Method for saxophone is not for the absolute beginner. It is, however, an important resource for any person who wants to seriously pursue playing the saxophone. The book's focus is on increasing technical skills and tone quality. It is not a theory book, meaning that the book does not contain information on how to play different styles of music (e.g. jazz, pop, r&b), however, the skills learned from the technical exercises are transferable. Also does not contain information on altissimo range.
