'Transformation' is the score for the finale sequence of Disney's animated classic, Beauty and the Beast (1991). Beginning with the Death of the Beast, this cue evokes intense emotion when Belle and the Beast share how they truly feel about each other, just as the last rose petal falls. It then transitions to the Transformation itself, where the Beast returns to his human form. In homage to the Disney fairytale adaptations which came before it, the film closes with the Disney Chorus singing a reprise of the title song, "Beauty and the Beast", paired with stained glass imagery. This score cue references leitmotifs of both Belle and Beast, as well as reiterations of the title song in several modulations.
Beauty and the Beast (1991) score garnered Alan Menken his second set of 2 Academy Awards (best original score and best original song), with many more Oscar winnings to follow. Orchestrations for Beauty and the Beast were done by Danny Troob, elevating Menken’s modern Broadway sensibility with rich, symphonic textures.
This arrangement for solo piano is a reduction of the full orchestra, and is suited for Intermediate+ pianists. Chords are marked throughout. An additional staff for the Woodwinds (meas 77 thru 79) is added for the performer's reference.
