The song is so popular in South African culture that it is often referred to as South Africa's second national anthem. 2. Thula Baba is a popular Zulu lullaby. 3. N’Kosi Sikelel iAfrika is a Christian hymn composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga, a Xhosa clergyman at a Methodist mission school near Johannesburg and became the national anthem of South Africa in 1997
