"This Christmas" is an all-time festive, popular R&B holiday classic orginally recorded by Donny Hathaway in 1970 on Atco Records. He composed it along with Nadine McKinnor. ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers ranked it as the 30th most-performed holiday song. Most of the students are familiar with this song, heard it numerous times, know the rhythms, even the song lyrics, and so on. This song really puts many into the holiday spirit. So many other artists have recorded and perfrmed thsi song. Even a movie was made in 2007 with the same title. Mr. Robinson added optional percussion including orchestra bells and sleigh bells. With the percussion parts being optional, they can be played as a trap set plus the auxiliary, or separately. The percussion staves in the parts are coupled. Also, there is a strings-only score so that the string orchestr director won't have so many pages to turn when working with the string only.
