THE CHRISTMAS WALTZ- for Big Band/Jazz Ensemble. “The Christmas Waltz” is a beloved seasonal standard that captures the warmth, romance, and nostalgic glow of the holidays. Written in 1954 by Sammy Cahn and Jule Styne, it was originally composed for Frank Sinatra, who wanted a new Christmas song for his holiday album. Since then, it has become a favorite in the American holiday songbook. Unlike many Christmas tunes that focus on festivities, decorations, or Santa Claus, this song feels more intimate and reflective. This is a light and breezy jazz waltz treatment with solos indicated in all parts. A nice way to break up the 4/4 swing groove for a while. First Trumpet up to Bb5. Intermediate level.
