This solo, commissioned by the Topeka and Northeast Kansas Music Teachers Association, is aptly named. The A section begins with a delicate melody in G major, creating the image of a brightly shining field of sunflowers. The B section depicts the wind gently blowing through the wheat fields. The left hand in this section is expansive and covers a wide range. The melody is an excellent study of harmonic intervals, especially thirds. The ! time signature adds to the lilting quality of the piece. The complete picture of the music paints a beautiful and lyrical tribute to the state of Kansas. Intermediate.

Love this piece!
A beautiful melody, and a fun piece to play. This has become a new favorite at recital time.

easy listening
After living in Kansas during my high school, college and early married years, the title appealed to my nostalgia for both wheat fields and sunflowers. It is an easy piece to sight read through and progresses where you think it will go. Nice and easy to play and enjoy.

Beautiful
Great song with repetition and majesty. A little too easy.

Very Sweet
I enjoy playing music which you don't hear on the radio or CD. This piece was within my ability range and I was very pleased with my purchase. This piece was fairly easy for me and the music is just sweet. I suggest this piece to people who are looking for a sweet melody to play on those wonderful sunny days.
