Composed by Friedrich Kuhlau. Arranged by Scott Camp. Classical,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 8 pages. Scott Camp #2861343. Published by Scott Camp (A0.552966).
Well know recital/competition piece by Friedrich Kuhlau.
This edition is the first movement Allegro of the Sonata Op. 55, No. 1.
Hand Positions and finger numbers mean that you (instructor) can teach more musical matters (dynamics, articulation, tempo, phrasing, etc), rather than spending precious lesson time on fingering.
Technical solutions (hand positions and finger numbers) are presented here, making this a "how to play" edition for this sublime music.
Here's a novel idea:
It's not unusual to assign students to write in whatever fingerings are necessary, and then to execute all phrasing and articulation indicators. Why not flip this?
With time saved by not having to figure out fingering, students are assigned to write in all phrasing and articulation (slurs, dynamics, staccato, etc).
Fingering is essential but not particularly interesting. Interacting with the higher level aspects of piano performance will lead to better performances. And obviously a foundation of correct fingering supports successful articulation.
This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard's global
self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters.
ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular
titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
