Sleigh Ride for Brass Ensemble and Percussion by Leroy Anderson Percussion - Sheet Music

By Leroy Anderson
Brass Ensemble and Percussion

SKU: CY.CC3849

Composed by Leroy Anderson. Arranged by Angus Armstrong. 20th Century American Christmas. Score and parts. Cherry Classics #CC3849. Published by Cherry Classics (CY.CC3849).

Sleigh Ride by American composer, Leroy Anderson was ironically composed during a heat wave in 1946 and then first performed a couple years later in 1948, conducted by Arthur Fiedler with the Boston Pops Orchestra. It is a cheerful work that has continuously been one of the top 10 Christmas songs ever. Its notable special effects include the sleigh bells, clip-clop of the horse’s hooves, the crack of the whip and the famous ending with its tongue-in-cheek signature horse whinny, always gleefully performed by the trumpet section.
This great Christmastime favorite for 11-part Brass Ensemble and Percussion arranged by Angus Armstrong includes the following instrumentation: 4 Trumpets in B-flat (including 2 on Piccolo), 2 Horns, 3 Trombones, Euphonium, Tuba and Percussion (including Sleigh Bells, Temple Blocks, Whip and Glockenspiel).
This work is appropriate for advanced performers. Armstrong's arrangement is licensed to Cherry Classics by Alfred Music.
