Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Edited by Solc Pokorny. Original Works, Tone Poems. Reprint Source: Prague: SNKLHU, 1959. Plate H 2818. Romantic, Czech. Study score. Composed 1878. 70 pages. Duration 14 minutes. Petrucci Library Press #41809. Published by Petrucci Library Press (SA.41809).
ISBN 9781608741809. 9.5 x 12.5 inches.
Dvorak's final Slovanske rapsodie was composed from around September 20 to December 3 of 1878 and was not completed by the premiere of its two companions at the Novemeber 17 Prague concert where Dvorak introduced himself as both a composer and conductor. It was first performed in Berlin on September 24, 1879 conducted by Wilhelm Taubert. Like its counterparts, traditional forms and programmatic associations are avoided and the music is meant to be enjoyed on its own terms. This new study score is a digitally enhanced reissue of the full score first published in 1959 by the Czech State Publishers as part of the Dvorak collected works, edited by Antonin Pokorny and Karel Solc. Unlike so many of the on-demand scores now available, this one comes with all the pages and the images have been thoroughly checked to make sure it is readable. As with all PLP scores a percentage of each sale is donated to the amazing online archive of free music scores and recordings, IMSLP - Petrucci Music Library.
