This solo brings to mind the rushing rapids of the river and the energy required to navigate them. The rhythmic and melodic ostinato creates a toccata-like feel and energy. The melody is in the left hand throughout as the right hand sustains the otstinato. Many times, the left hand must cross over the right, creating a piece that is as visually exciting as it is aurally.
