Best Curriculum
This is the best, most rounded series for flute and instrumental study. My father used it for his students and I used it and now I am using it for my own. None of the newly written books compare. Stick to what works.

Very good books!
I learned flute from these books. They are very easy to follow, have lessons where, for example, one week you're practicing this scale, and everything corresponds, and then this classical music solo. I'm looking into starting to teach young students and the first book I thought of was this one. Highly recommended!

rubank elementary method for flute/piccolo
this has to be my favorite beginning flute book. I've used it for the last 40 years with beginning flute students. It offers solid lessons that do not overwhelm the student at the start, yet, has more information than a regular band book. lessons include: fingering chart, keys 0-4 flats and sharps, rhythmic exercises, scales and arpeggios, extended range, various time signatures, duets and lovely short songs that relate to the lesson at hand. If the teacher feels like the student would benefit from more etudes, Rubank offers a supplementary book also that is wonderful. I would recommend this to any teacher or student of flute.
