Published by Edward David Zeliff (A0.888250).An ambitious piano suite written in a modern, 20th/21st century style without bar lines and time signatures. It is atonal, and therefore without key signatures as they would be meaningless. This particular modern style of writing is clearly explained in the performance/program notes, but essentially all notes are natural unless a sharp or flat precedes it. Tied notes are exactly that, but the next occurrence of the note is considered natural since there are no measure lines. It is, technically, atonal but still with a strong sense of directionality, and requires all the expressiveness of music of the 19th century.

Another View
I am writing this in response to the person who anonymously expressed a very negative reaction to my piano suite OUT OF TIME. I believe in freedom of speech, and thus freedom of opinion, just as much as the next person, and so I do not wish this negative review to be rescinded or censored in any way. However, I believe that the one writing it is unfamiliar with the direction that concert hall music, or what is termed art music, took during the 20th century and continued with in the 21st. Increasing exploitation of dissonance is one characteristic, and freedom from the restriction of the bar line and conventional time signatures is another. Each of the 5 vignettes in my suite, Angers, Glances, Seconds, Longings, and Velocities, makes the effort to capture a mood or an emotion, and for all the modernisms employed, nonetheless has a directionality and focus. The music is difficult to play, but I have never once heard a negative reaction from anyone who has ever heard it live.
